"In office" vs. "in the office" vs. "at the office" angļu valodā

Pēc tam, kad es publicēju savu rakstu par in/at school lietošanu, viens no maniem lasītājiem man jautāja par atšķirību starp „in office” un „at office”.

Parasti mēs teiktu vai nu in the office vai at the office (ievērojiet noteikto artikulu). Prievārds „in” teikumā „I am in the office” norāda, ka birojs ir telpa un jūs esat šīs telpas iekšpusē. Vārds „at” savukārt izsaka vispārēju priekšstatu par atrašanās vietu un bieži ir aizstājams ar „at work”. Lai to apkopotu:

I am in my/the office. = My office is a room and I am in that room.

I am at my/the office. = I am somewhere near my office or in it; I am at work.

In office (bez artikula) nozīmē kaut ko pavisam citu. Mēs sakām, ka kāds ir „in office”, kad viņš strādā oficiālā amatā, parasti valsts labā. Piemēram, mēs varētu teikt:

Bill Clinton was in office from 1993 to 2001.

kad atsaucamies uz viņa prezidentūras laiku.

Variants at office (bez artikula) parasti netiek lietots. Ja jums ir vēlme teikt „at office”, labāk sakiet „at the office”:

I am not at the office right now.

I am not at office right now.
