Normale ni dirus aŭ in the office aŭ at the office (rimarku la difinitan artikolon). La prepozicio "in" en la frazo "I am in the office" sugestas, ke la oficejo estas ĉambro kaj vi estas ene de tiu ĉambro. La vorto "at" aliflanke esprimas ĝeneralan ideon pri loko kaj ofte estas interŝanĝebla kun "at work". Por resumi:

I am in my/the office. = My office is a room and I am in that room.

I am at my/the office. = I am somewhere near my office or in it; I am at work.

In office (sen artikolo) signifas ion tute alian. Ni diras, ke iu estas "in office", kiam li laboras en oficiala pozicio, kutime por la ŝtato. Ekzemple, ni povus diri:
