Matumizi sahihi ya "help do", "help to do", na "help doing" katika Kiingereza

Katika Kiingereza, tunaweza kutumia muundo wa " help someone do something ", na pia muundo wa " help someone to do something ". Fomu bila " to " ni ya kawaida zaidi katika mazungumzo ya kila siku kuliko fomu yenye " to " (hasa katika Kiingereza cha Marekani), lakini fomu zote mbili hutumiwa kwa kawaida katika maandishi:

He helped me move to London. (more common)

He helped me to move to London. (less common when speaking)

Wanafunzi wengine hujaribu kuchanganya fomu yenye kiambishi -ing, ambayo hupatikana katika misemo mingine yenye kitenzi " help ", lakini kwa bahati mbaya hiyo si sahihi:

He helped me (to) move to London.

He helped me moving to London.

Hata hivyo, kuna msemo mmoja usio rasmi ambapo kweli tunatumia " help doing ", hasa " cannot help doing ". Ikiwa mtu " cannot help doing something ", hawezi kuzuia haja ya kufanya hivyo. Kwa mfano:

I can't help thinking about her constantly = Lazima nimfikirie kila wakati. Siwezi kuacha kumfikiria.

Idiom hii ina maana sawa na " cannot help but do " – tunaweza pia kusema " I cannot help but think about her constantly ".
