In the previous chapter, we discussed architectural styles that are common in Europe as well as the US. Here are a few additional styles that are common in the US but not very common in Europe.
colonial style – an architectural style featuring symmetrical facades and multi-paned windows.
craftsman style – known for handcrafted stone or woodwork and visible structural elements.
prairie style – horizontal lines, flat roofs, and open interior spaces, pioneered by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Cape Cod style – simple, symmetrical design with a steep roof and central chimney.
ranch style – single-story layout with an open floor plan.
Spanish Colonial – characterized by thick walls, clay tile roofs, and arched corridors.
mid-century modern – clean lines, minimal ornamentation, and integration with nature.
