1. a significant or memorable time span in history or someone's life

2. a unit of geological time lasting hundreds of thousands to millions of years, smaller than a period and often divided into smaller ages
   The Paleocene epoch followed the mass extinction event that marked the end of the dinosaurs.
3. in machine learning, one full cycle of presenting the entire training data set to an algorithm
   After 100 epochs, the accuracy of the machine learning model improved significantly.
